Unlike traditional wool, cashmere is made from fine, soft fibers combed from the undercoat of a goat.Cashmere gets its name from the ancient spelling of Kashmir, the birthplace of its production and trading
These goats are found throughout the Grasslands of Inner Mongolia, where temperatures can drop to -30°C.
In this cold habitat, the goats grow a very thick, warm coat.
Cashmere goats have two layers of wool: an ultra-soft undercoat and an outer coat,
The combing process is laborious because the bottom layer must be separated from the outer layer by hand.
Fortunately, we have excellent shepherds up to the task.
Each goat typically produces only 150 grams of fiber, and it takes about 4-5 adults to make a 100 percent cashmere sweater
what makes cashmere so unique is its scarcity and time-consuming process…
Cashmere is only collected from goats once a year!
Are all cashmere the same?
There are different grades of cashmere, separated according to quality. These grades can be divided into three categories: A, B and C.
“The thinner the cashmere, the finer the structure, the higher the quality of the end product.”
Grade A grade A cashmere is the highest quality cashmere. It is used by luxury brands and is used in all of our products in China. Grade A cashmere is as thin as 15 microns, about six times thinner than A human hair. The average length of 36-40 mm.
Grade B is slightly softer than Grade A, and Grade B cashmere is medium. It is about 18-19 microns wide.the average length is 34 mm.
Grade C is the lowest quality cashmere. It is twice as thick as class A and about 30 microns wide. the average length is 28mm. Cashmere sweaters produced by fast fashion brands often use this type of cashmere.
